Definition of 'sucker list'

'Sucker lists' are directories, compiled by scammers, of people who have fallen for their scams, and hence may fall for future scams. Once on a 'sucker list', it's usually impossible to get off.

There is also a trade in 'sucker lists' - scammers will sell the details of people who have fallen for their scams to other scammers. This increases the amount of money a scammer may make, and could be used by other scammers to identify 'soft' targets.
